Note: please use the reload button to ensure that you are viewing current content Welcome to the homepage of the Albuquerque Transmitter Hunters - an active group of Amateur Radio operators who locate hidden transmitters for fun and in times of need, such as determining the source of interference to local repeater systems or individuals who use the Amateur Radio bands illegally. In addition, some of the T-Hunters are also members of local SAR teams and use these skills in the search for downed aircraft by locating their crash beacon transmitters. We participate in hidden transmitter hunts on 2-meters and 80-meters in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area at least twice a month, and welcome visitors anytime, regardless of skill level. Our hunts take place either completely on foot, or involves driving part of the way. In the summer of 2001, the Albuquerque Transmitter Hunters hosted the first ever USA Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF) Championships at Manzano State Park, where over 30 direction finding enthusiasts from across the United States, Ukraine, Australia and China competed against each other to locate hidden transmitters using direction finding techniques as well as map & compass skills. Enjoy this website, as it is intended to give you a glimpse of the fun we have as part of Albuquerque's Amateur Radio community. Most of our group's email communications takes place over the ABQTHUNT listserve, a free listserve provided by YahooGroups. Email communications about our ARDF hunts take place on the ABQARDF listserve. Anyone is welcomed to subscribe - in fact, we recommend it if you are interested in becoming an active transmitter hunter. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. 73! |
